photography has always been a passion. i was given a 35mm SLR when i was 8-years-old, which began a relationship with imagery that continues to grow.
my first foray into professional photography was in the fast-paced world of brides and grooms. while working for Dynamic Exposures in western canada, i had an opportunity to explore energized and tender moments amidst splendid natural backdrops. when building a fast relationship with perfect strangers, i relied on connecting with people to make the shoot comfortable and natural. i realized that after assisting new couples to capture their precious moments of union, what i found most rewarding was being asked to return into their lives to photograph their growing families.
the electricity and sensuality of pregnant women, the breathtaking and humbling presence of a newborn, the magic that occurs when a family comes together… aspects that inspired me to become a photographer in the first place. while continuing to work with Dynamic Exposures, i opened my own home studio in calgary to focus on my passion for family portraiture. in 2007, This Moment Now launched, and i had the pleasure of peeking through my lens at beautiful mothers, fathers, babies, children and families on a regular basis.
at the end of the year, i followed my own heart and moved to toronto, where I’ve been excited to discover and photograph new personalities in a new city.
it is such an honour to be capturing the precious private moments in a family’s life.
